Looking to keep up with the digital revolution? The Digital Skills, Innovation & Learning Hub (DSILH) has you covered. Launched in July 2023, this one-stop shop in Boscombe's Royal Arcade is here to help you navigate and succeed in the ever-evolving world of tech.

The DSILH offers free digital education to help you level up your digital skills and achieve your personal and professional goals, no matter your age or background. Keep reading to see how it can boost you and your business to the next level!

What is the Digital Skills, Innovation & Learning Hub?

The DSHL is a central hub that offers free events and workshops on everything from computer basics to business training. Whether you're a resident wanting to brush up on your digital skills or an aspiring entrepreneur looking to refine your business plan, the DSHL has something for you. It’s open Mondays to Wednesdays and partners with local experts (including Evolve Members, Silicon South, and Citizens Advice) to provide you with the widest range of resources possible.

What does the DSILH include?

The DSILH aims to bridge the digital divide. It serves as a welcoming space where residents can learn new technologies and gain confidence in their digital skills, as well as a resource for local businesses to receive specialised incubator and accelerator support.

Hub concierge and signposting service

At our central office, we are dedicated to being your go-to resource for all things related to training and career development in the digital sector. Our Hub Concierge and Signposting Service is designed to provide you with free, personalised advice tailored to your unique needs and aspirations.

Virtual skills platform

Our Virtual Skills Platform is designed to be your ultimate resource for discovering and accessing a wide range of training opportunities in the digital sector. Conveniently accessible from both your computer and phone, this platform ensures you can stay ahead in your career development, no matter where you are.

Digital learning rooms

Our Digital Learning Rooms are designed to provide an immersive and interactive learning experience, offering a variety of courses tailored to both individuals and businesses. Whether you're looking to enhance your technical skills, acquire future skills, or drive digital transformation in your organisation, our Digital Learning Rooms have the right course for you.

Digital tech incubator

Our Digital Tech Incubator is designed to support up to 35 innovative digital and creative tech entrepreneurs and startups. We provide a comprehensive suite of resources to help you turn your ideas into successful ventures. From office space to mentorship and funding, our incubator offers everything you need to thrive in the competitive tech landscape.

Digital tech lab and showroom

Our Digital Tech Lab and Showroom provides local companies with a cutting-edge space to test, develop, and showcase their latest digital and technological innovations. Designed to foster creativity and collaboration, our facility is equipped with the latest tools and technologies to support your product development journey from concept to market.

Building a digital future accessable for our community

We regularly monitor where our visitors come from using the map of the Towns Fund area shown. We are pleased to confirm when asked, "Do you live within the area outlined on this map?", around 70% of respondents confirm they do, showing strong engagement from the local community with the digital skills hub.

Digital Skills, Innovation & Learning Hub FAQs

The DSH is aimed at Boscombe resident and businesses. Currently circa 70% of those who seek our help are from the Boscombe Towns Fund area.

Pop into the Hub at the Royal Arcade to sign up or, if you are able to get online already visit the website for a list of available courses: https://www.digitalskillshub.org.uk/

No! Everything we currently offer is free, although some courses targeted at businesses may attract a fee in the future.

You can use our laptops and PCs when you are enrolled in our courses or in a supervised activity.

Generally we are open between 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, but events and talks take place in the evenings as well so check the website or pop in for more details. Sometimes we have to limit access if training is underway in our main learning space but will try to help you if you come round to the side door inside the Royal Arcade itself.
